182 pages. 8vo. Tan cloth. Good condition with mild shelf wear and rubbing to<br />

extremities. Front hinge a bit weak and frontis photo of the author is loose.<br />

Contents very good. Lacking the dust jacket. Bourke-White has inscribed the <strong>book</strong><br />

in ink on the front endsheet to General Cannon, and dated it July 1945. General<br />

Cannon was Utah native John Kenneth Cannon, fondly known as Uncle Joe<br />

Cannon during his long career in the Air Force. Bourke-White took Cannon's<br />

photo after he bailed out of his P-51 in the Mediterranean Sea. The photo precedes<br />

555, 723 pages. 8vos. Red cloth with gilt titles. Very good condition with lightly<br />

bumped and rubbed corners and yellowed endsheets. The cloth of volume 3 has a<br />

few small spots. The front hinges of Volumes 2 and 3 are weak. Contents of all<br />

volumes are clean. A detailed history of<br />

this southeastern county in Scotland.<br />

With a government reorganization in<br />

1975, the name Peeblesshire was<br />

discontinued and the area was governed<br />

as the district of Tweeddale. However,<br />

the Peeblesshire name is still in frequent<br />

use. Many interesting black and white<br />

dentelles. In very good condition with light rubbing to edges of spine and a<br />

contemporary <strong>book</strong> plate on front pastedown. Brief pencil notations on verso<br />

of free endsheet and flyleaf at front. Mild foxing to endsheets and flyleaves.<br />

boards, raised bands, red leather gilt stamped labels, gilt rules and blind<br />

dingbats on the spines and marbled endsheets. Very good. Both volumes have<br />

been discreetly restored, Spines are faded from green to brown. Previous<br />

owner’s name in light pen written vertically on the leather of the front board<br />

near the spine of volume 1, which also has a gift inscription and a few small<br />

doodles and sketches on the front free endsheet and first flyleaf. The rear<br />
