Catalogue Police the police

Prezentată pentru prima oară la galeria G99 din Brno, instalaţia
„Out of Nowhere” a fost creată iniţial în cadrul proiectului „Possibilities
are Great, Reasons are Few”, de la galeria Půda din
Jihlava (2008), în cadrul căreia imagini individuale şi înrămate
erau suspendate pe pereţi şi susţinute (atât fizic, cât şi simbolic)
de scânduri conectate între ele. Structura aceasta un pic şubredă
poate fi văzută ca un fel de alegorie universală. Expoziţia „Out of
Nowhere” este însă şi mai radicală. Atât imagini înrămate, cât
şi neînrămate sunt ţintuite în tavan de nişte scânduri, prin forţa
verticală a textelor înscrise pe ele – care, paradoxal, abundă
în îndoieli – ajutând astfel şipcile să menţină imaginile la locul
lor. Mănunchiul acesta de imagini, desene şi texte puse laolaltă
reprezintă o metaforă a sistemului, a oricărei ierarhii, fie ea
socială, politică sau religioasă, dar şi a artei în general.

The “Out of Nowhere” installation, first displayed at the G99
Gallery in Brno, originates in the “Possibilities Are Great,
Reasons Are Few” project. This project was created for the
Půda Gallery in Jihlava (2008), where individual pictures still
hung in frames on walls, were supported (both physically
and symbolically) by interconnected laths. This somewhat
rickety structure may be quite a universal allegory. The “Out
of Nowhere” exhibition is even more radicalized. Pictures,
both framed and frameless, are pinned to the ceiling with
laths, with the vertical force of texts – paradoxically overflowing
with doubts – inscribed on them and aiding the laths
to hold the pictures in place. This relative bundle of pictures,
drawings and texts is a metaphor of the system, of any social,
state or religious hierarchy, as well as of art itself.
