separate telephone number must be indicated for each package. This must be a<br />

US number with English speaking representatives 24 hours per day.<br />

Additional Description Information<br />

1. If a hazardous material has a generic shipping name, the technical name<br />

of the hazardous component may be required to be entered in<br />

parentheses with the basic description. If the letter “G” appears in column<br />

1 of the FedEx Ground <strong>Hazardous</strong> Material Table, a technical name is<br />

required.<br />

For example: Compound Cleaning Liquids (hydrochloric acid).<br />

2. If the hazardous material is a mixture or solution of two or more hazardous<br />

components, the technical names of at least two components most<br />

predominantly contributing to the hazard must be entered. If the letter “G”<br />

appears in column 1 of the FedEx Ground <strong>Hazardous</strong> Material Table, a<br />

technical name is required.<br />

For example: Flammable Liquids, corrosive, n.o.s. (Ethanol, Sodium<br />

Hydroxide).<br />

3. If the hazardous material meets the definition of a DOT Poison but the<br />

shipping name or hazard class does not indicate a Poison, the word<br />

"Poison" must be included on the shipping papers with the basic<br />

description. If the hazardous material has a N.O.S. generic shipping<br />

name, the technical name of the poison component must be entered in<br />

parentheses with the basic description. <strong>Materials</strong>, which pose an<br />

inhalation hazard, must have the notation "Poison Inhalation- Hazard Zone<br />

" entered on the shipping papers.<br />

Note: FedEx Ground does not accept hazardous materials, which<br />

require the "Poison Inhalation Hazard Zone" labeling.<br />

Note: FedEx Ground will only h<strong>and</strong>le Poisonous materials if they are<br />

packed in an approved package that has been granted a DOT Special<br />

Permit (i.e., DOT-SP 9168) which precludes the requirements for a<br />

"Poison" or "Poison PG III" Label.<br />

4. <strong>Hazardous</strong> <strong>Materials</strong> which are shipped in a package which has a DOT<br />

authorized packaging Special Permit must bear the additional description<br />

"DOT-SP" followed by the assigned special permit number.<br />

5. <strong>Hazardous</strong> materials which are shipped under the EXCEPTION packaging<br />

rules in Column 8(a) of the <strong>Hazardous</strong> <strong>Materials</strong> Table may not be subject<br />
