ORM-D Shipments<br />

Cartridges, small arms (ORM-D): Cartridges, small arms <strong>and</strong> cartridges, power<br />

devices which have been classed as a Division 1.4S explosive may be reclassed<br />

<strong>and</strong> offered for transportation as an ORM-D material when packaged in<br />

accordance with 49 CFR 173.63(b). Each package containing an ORM-D<br />

material must be marked on at least one side with the ORM-D marking. The<br />

proper shipping name of the material, Cartridges, small arms or Cartridges,<br />

power devices, as appropriate, must be marked above or before the ORM-D<br />

designation. No shipping paper (OP-900) or certification form (OP-950) is<br />

required for ORM-D materials transported via highway.<br />

FedEx Fact: Cartridges, small arms or Cartridges, power device ORM-D<br />

materials are prohibited to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, or Canada.<br />

Consumer commodity (ORM-D): <strong>Hazardous</strong> materials that have been properly<br />

classed as a Consumer commodity (ORM-D) must be marked on at least one<br />

side with the ORM-D marking. The proper shipping name, Consumer<br />

Commodity, of the material must be marked above or before the ORM-D<br />

designation. No shipping paper (OP-900) or certification form (OP-950) is<br />

required for ORM-D materials transported via highway.<br />

FedEx Fact: Consumer commodity ORM-D materials are prohibited to Alaska,<br />

Hawaii, or Puerto Rico. Consumer commodities are acceptable into Canada.<br />

Paint Shipments<br />

Paint or Paint related material: FedEx Ground will only accept metal paint-type<br />

cans with friction fitted lids packaged <strong>and</strong> prepared in fiberboard under one of<br />

two types of packaging methods:<br />

Option 1:<br />

• United Nations Performance Oriented Packaged (UNPOP).<br />

• A retaining ring around the lid or:<br />

o For gallons, 6 lid clips<br />

o For quarts, 5 lid clips<br />

o For pints, 4 lid clips<br />

Option 2: If authorized by 49 CFR §173.173 or limited quantity (Ltd. Qty.), the<br />

following packaging requirements must be met:<br />

• Fiberboard packaging must meet the following requirements:<br />
