WITH thirteen members of the 1948
team returning to form the nucleus of their
squad, the University of Baltimore baseball
team looks forward with optimism to its 1949
baseball schedule which crowds twenty-five
games in the short space of seven weeks time.
Seven returning pitchers and catchers, together
with several talented newcomers, give
the Bees a formidable array of batterymen.
Charles Serio, winner of four games last year,
is expected once again to lead the squad's
moundsmen. Other noteworthy hurlers are
Senior Gene McCarthy, Danny Katz, Sam
Ressin , Ed Plitt and Davey Deffinbaugh. Carl
Crispino, freshman catcher, has bested a pair
of veterans in the fight for the regular catcher's
berth.
