Carolyn’s Caramel Bars<br />
About 50 pieces unwrapped caramel’s<br />
(1 bag <strong>of</strong> Brach’s caramel’s)<br />
2/3 cup evaporated milk, divided<br />
1 (18-1/2 oz) box German Chocolate Cake Mix<br />
3/4 cup butter or margarine, melted<br />
6 oz chocolate chips<br />
1 cup chopped walnuts<br />
DIRECTIONS:<br />
1. Melt caramel pieces over low heat with 1/3 cup evaporated<br />
milk. Mix cake mix with melted butter and remaining<br />
1/3 cup evaporated milk.<br />
2. Spread half <strong>of</strong> the cake mix mixture into a lightly greased<br />
13x9 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.<br />
3. Remove from oven and sprinkle evenly with chocolate chips<br />
and walnuts. Drizzle melted caramel mixture over the layer <strong>of</strong><br />
chips and nuts. Spread the remaining half <strong>of</strong> the cake mixture<br />
as evenly as possible over the top and bake for an additional<br />
20 minutes. Cut when cool. Can be cut into thin bars or bite<br />
sized candy squares.<br />
