LHA2 It is the policy of the Council to protect v<strong>ie</strong>ws and prospects of special amenity<br />

value or special interest.<br />

LHA3 It is the policy of the Council to preserve and enhance the character and<br />

special features of the Lucan Bridge to Palmerstown Special Amenity Area.<br />

LHA4 It is the policy of the Council to actively investigate the feasibility of extending<br />

the <strong>Liffey</strong> <strong>Valley</strong> Special Amenity Area Order to include lands from the<br />

Dublin City Council boundary to the boundary with County <strong>Kildare</strong>.<br />

LHA5 It is a policy of the Council to secure, as an amenity of national significance,<br />

the preservation of the <strong>Liffey</strong> <strong>Valley</strong> and its landscapes and to seek to have the<br />

lands brought into public ownership for the purpose of designation as a <strong>Liffey</strong><br />

<strong>Valley</strong> National Park.<br />

It is an objective of the Council to pursue the creation of a <strong>Liffey</strong> <strong>Valley</strong><br />

National Park together with the adjoining Local Authorit<strong>ie</strong>s of Fingal and<br />

<strong>Kildare</strong>.<br />

It is an objective of the Council to preserve all areas within the <strong>Liffey</strong> <strong>Valley</strong><br />

from major housing developments.<br />

LHA6 It is the policy of the Council to protect and preserve areas designated or<br />

proposed as Special Areas of Conservation (E.U. Habitats Directive) and<br />

Proposed Natural Heritage Areas.<br />

LHA11 It is the policy of the Council to protect the natural resources of the County<br />

and conserve the existing wide range of flora and fauna in the County through<br />

the protection of wildlife habitats wherever possible.<br />

LHA12 It is the policy of the Council to implement a strategy (prepared on a regional<br />

basis) for the management of rivers and streams throughout the County.<br />

Designation of a <strong>Liffey</strong> <strong>Valley</strong> Park would<br />

assist in pursuing this policy.<br />
