japanese architecture studio tezuka architects in tokyo. However,
their big public buildings also reveal the extent to which the architect
couple takaharu and yui tezuka—who are enjoying increasing
international acclaim—see architecture as an elementary discipline
of defining and removing boundaries. their designs are the epitome
of simplicity: intense dialogues with clients and users help the studio

in recent years, luxembourg has advanced into a
stronghold of contemporary architecture. be-
sides works by prominent international archi-
tects, the oeuvre of one luxembourg office also
stands out: Christian bauer & associés archi-
tectes has not only enhanced the city and coun-
try of luxembourg with its museums, schools,
banks, and residential and commercial buildings, its impact also ex-
tends beyond the boundaries of the grand duchy.
its oeuvre includes urban development concepts as well as architec-
ture designed for an urban developmental context.
the founder and director of the office, Christian bauer, has made an
international name for himself as director of the Fondation de
l'architecture et de l'ingénierie and curator of luxembourg’s contri-
bution to the architecture biennial in venice. this volume is the first
monographic publication to present the office’s extensive and var-
ied work.
