Directory of fulltext online resources. Westport, CT: Meckler, 1992. 138 p.
This directory and user's guide provides an overview of online fulltext resources in current state of
development. Sections 1-3 discuss fulltext as a shift from citation to publishing, and the two leading
commercial services, commercial databanks and CD-ROMs, which are attempting to create the
commercial market. Sections 4-10 present seven different types of fulltext now available: some
commercial, some academic, some simply public domain. Sections 11-12 discuss implications: some
thoughts are presented on the threat of "information overload", and on the enormous efforts now
underway to present all this fulltext flood in an organized and useful manner.
