There has been considerable interest recently in Self-regulated Learning (SRL). SRL is viewed as a<br />
process whereby students' activated and sustained cognition, behaviour and affection are systematically<br />
oriented towards attainment of their goals. It is expected that in education and training, there is a<br />
growing need for every student, teacher and employee to have at least a basic level of computer<br />
competence. Therefore, in all areas of education and employment, there have been growing moves<br />
toward developing programmes to teach computer skills. It is considered that the instructional<br />
strategies, methodologies and psychological principles involved in Computer-assisted Instruction<br />
(CAI) are relevant to SRL strategies. The relevance between SRL and CAI has been discussed in this<br />
paper.<br />
