Plano ISD 2013 ? 2016 Technology Plan - Amazon Web Services

In support of the information gathered during the planning process and as a
commitment to ensure each student’s learning experience is relevant and rigorous, the
academic and technology services division believe each of the following is essential for
successful learners and teachers in this digital age:
1. A school system dedicated to digital age students, parents and teachers provides
innovative and agile leadership in areas of student learning, capacity
development, professional learning and data-informed decision-making.
2. The focus in our classrooms is to create varied and rigorous learning
opportunities that result in meaningful learning for all students.
3. Students and teachers should be provided ready access to district and global
resources to maintain equitable learning and teaching environments.
4. A digital age ready student demonstrates: flexibility, adaptability, leadership,
integrity, perseverance, originality, inventiveness, interpersonal skills, critical
thinking, and collaborative skills to solve problems in effective and innovative
ways.
5. Successful learning is best achieved through collaborative partnerships with
students, parents, and communities.
6. The district should provide all students, parents and teachers with the resources
and appropriate environments necessary to foster a culture based on datainformed
decision-making.
7. Students should be provided with the resources to use data to set learning goals
and to measure progress toward those goals.
8. Parents and teachers should be provided with the resources to use data to
compare multiple educational paths, to evaluate the effectiveness of instruction,
and to discover increasingly more effective interventions.
Additionally, the 2013-2016 technology plan provides a clear focus on the desire of
Plano ISD to provide a more personalized learning environment for students, a more
efficient teaching environment for teachers and other staff members and a more
comprehensive information management environment for all stakeholders.
Input to this plan was provided by students, parents, teachers, support staff, and
administrators. The needs assessment process included online surveys, focus group
sessions, and technology steering committee meetings and workgroups. In total, 6,448
stakeholders provided input as part of this technology plan update.
