Nordborg Lighthouse
enjoy the view of, for instance, the
isle of Ærø, from the 18 metres high
tower.
Taksensand Lighthouse is another
of the area’s distinctive lighthouses.
It stands on the water’s edge and
its boulder foundation looks beautiful
together with the stony beach.
The lighthouse was built in 1905 and
was originally 32 metres high. In 1953
the lighthouse was reduced in hight
to 19 metres.
Ironically enough, an interesting
way in which to experience the
area’s many lighthouses is to go
geocaching and use the same GPS
technology that has mostly overtaken
the role of the lighthouses.
Geocaching is a kind of modern treasure
hunting where you use a GPS
to find little treasures hidden around
the landscape.
