museum is open daily from 11 am – 4 pm.<br />

Combined Town and Tilting Festival tour<br />
The town walk goes through the old town<br />
with its Art Nouveau style houses. We visit<br />
the Tilting Museum, where we are welcomed<br />
by a guide who knows everything about the<br />
history of tilting-at-the-ring.<br />
After approx. 1½ hours the walk ends with a<br />
short tour around the festival grounds.<br />
Danmark’s only Tilting Museum, situated<br />
in one of the oldest houses in town.<br />
Learn about the history of Tilting-the-Ring,<br />
see the president lances, the saddles and the<br />
reins, the beautiful trophies, the Lances of<br />
honour and the painting ‘Tilting Parade’ by<br />
Fritz Carstensen.<br />
Visit the Medal Corridor, the Protocol Room<br />
and the Document Room, where you can see<br />
different medals and ribbons and see who<br />
have won the titles of King, Crown Prince and<br />
Prince throughout the years.<br />

Begin by watching the great tilting-at-thering<br />
procession at 11.30 (starts from the castle<br />
square in Sønderborg).<br />

in Sønderborg on July 12-15<br />
The Tilting-at-the-ring Festival celebrates its 125th anniversary this year. it<br />
will be celebratet with southern Jutland’s biggest party with more than 500<br />
horses and riders, a music programme with several hundreds of danish<br />
and international musicians, a festival area with all the fun of the fair and a<br />
party atmosphere in the beer and dance tents.<br />
