Combined Town and Tilting Festival tour
The town walk goes through the old town
with its Art Nouveau style houses. We visit
the Tilting Museum, where we are welcomed
by a guide who knows everything about the
history of tilting-at-the-ring.
After approx. 1½ hours the walk ends with a
short tour around the festival grounds.
Danmark’s only Tilting Museum, situated
in one of the oldest houses in town.
Learn about the history of Tilting-the-Ring,
see the president lances, the saddles and the
reins, the beautiful trophies, the Lances of
honour and the painting ‘Tilting Parade’ by
Fritz Carstensen.
Visit the Medal Corridor, the Protocol Room
and the Document Room, where you can see
different medals and ribbons and see who
have won the titles of King, Crown Prince and
Prince throughout the years.

castle at Sdr. Havnegade.

Begin by watching the great tilting-at-thering
procession at 11.30 (starts from the castle
square in Sønderborg).

anniversary celebration
in Sønderborg on July 12-15
The Tilting-at-the-ring Festival celebrates its 125th anniversary this year. it
will be celebratet with southern Jutland’s biggest party with more than 500
horses and riders, a music programme with several hundreds of danish
and international musicians, a festival area with all the fun of the fair and a
party atmosphere in the beer and dance tents.
