The Froeslev Camp was built in 1944 and used<br />

as a German internment camp for members<br />

of the Danish Resistance. It is one of the most<br />

well-preserved German prison camps from<br />

WW II in Europe. See how a prisoners’ barrack<br />

appeared in 1944-45 or see the exhibitions<br />

on the German surveillance of the camp, the<br />

You will find several places to dine across the island, and should you<br />

wish to extend your stay you will find exclusive hotels as well as charming<br />

bed & breakfast establishments.<br />

The ferry crossing takes a full hour so you will have plenty of time to catch<br />

the genuine island asmosphere while enjoying the fine mini-cruise on board the<br />

new ferry M/F “Skjoldnæs” from Fynshav to Søby.<br />

The museum informs about the history<br />

of the German minority in southern<br />

Denmark. The historico-cultural and arthistorical<br />

collections illustrate among other<br />

things everyday life in the minority.<br />

situated in the main watch tower and barrack<br />

H4. In barrack H6 you will find an exhibition<br />

on the camp’s function from 1945-49 as an<br />

internment- and penal camp during the judicial<br />

purge after WW II. During that period the<br />

camp was called the Faarhus Camp.<br />
