M.E.M. Program<br />

Prospective students for the M.E.M. program should have an accredited bachelor’s<br />

degree in engineering. Students with a bachelor’s degree in a physical science may be<br />

admitted on condition that any undergraduate deficiencies be made up through<br />

additional coursework.<br />

Graduates <strong>of</strong> programs other than the <strong>Dartmouth</strong> College A.B. and the <strong>Thayer</strong> <strong>School</strong><br />

Dual-Degree program must submit scores from the Graduate Record Exam (GRE).<br />

Students whose native language is not English must also submit evidence <strong>of</strong> satisfactory<br />

completion <strong>of</strong> Test <strong>of</strong> English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).<br />

M.S. and Ph.D. <strong>Programs</strong><br />

Prospective students for the M.S. and Ph.D. programs should have an accredited<br />

bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, or science. Students with minor<br />

program deficiencies may be admitted but will be required to complete undergraduate<br />

courses in addition to their graduate courses.<br />

Graduates <strong>of</strong> programs other than the <strong>Dartmouth</strong> College A.B. and the <strong>Thayer</strong> <strong>School</strong><br />

Special Students: Students who do not meet prerequisite requirements for admission<br />

may be admitted as special students. However, when no more than the equivalent<br />

<strong>of</strong> one term’s work is needed to satisfy prerequisites, students will be considered<br />

for admission as regular degree candidates.<br />

Part-Time Students: Residents <strong>of</strong> the Upper Valley region who have a B.S. in engineering<br />

or an appropriate math/science program and can meet basic academic<br />

requirements may pursue coursework on a part-time basis. Thesis topics will be<br />

selected with the approval <strong>of</strong> a graduate program director.<br />
