number of officials needed are nominated, two<br />
ballots shall be taken. The first shall be used to<br />
reduce nominees to twice the number needed and<br />
the second to rank the officials.)<br />
e. The president shall designate a person responsible<br />
for hiring officials and require that the employment<br />
be attempted in the same sequence as the rankings<br />
indicated by the schools’ preference; he shall have<br />
the authority to write contracts on behalf of the<br />
conference.<br />
f. Officials shall be paid a fee for each game worked as<br />
determined by the school representatives.<br />
g. Bench officials shall be nominated by the host school<br />
and approved by a committee composed of<br />
conference officers. Fees paid bench officials shall<br />
also be subject to the approval of this committee.<br />
F. Other Business - Division of tournament proceeds,<br />
allowances for expenses, and such other matters of<br />
business necessary shall be the responsibility of the school<br />
representatives present and may vary from year to year.<br />
Any such business item shall be considered upon a motion<br />
and second by the school representatives present.<br />
Rule 8. REGIONAL AND STATE TOURNAMENTS<br />
A. Each conference by classification shall certify four boys<br />
teams and four girls teams to regional or state tournaments:<br />
B. Regional tournaments shall be played during week #34 and<br />
state tournaments shall be played during weeks #35 and<br />
week #36.<br />
C. The seeding of the championship tournament brackets shall<br />
be placed on a rotating or constant bracket for all<br />
classifications.<br />
D. The <strong>AAA</strong> Board of Directors shall be responsible for the<br />
organization, administration and assignment of sites of<br />
regional and state tournaments and is authorized to<br />
formulate policies and procedures not otherwise provided<br />
for in conducting these tournaments.<br />
Rule 9. MINIMUM GYMNASIUM SPECIFICATIONS FOR<br />
HOSTING A REGIONAL OR STATE TOURNAMENT<br />
A. Four dressing rooms, each with showers, hot water, toilets,<br />
and washbasins.<br />
B. Two rest rooms for public use.<br />
C. Floor dimensions equal to or in excess of 48 x 84 feet.<br />
D. There shall be at least three feet of unobstructed space<br />
outside the court adjacent to the sidelines and at least five<br />
feet of unobstructed space outside the end lines.<br />
E. There shall be a time clock visible from both directions of<br />
the playing court.<br />
F. Minimum gymnasium safety standards (Bylaws, Article IV,<br />
Sec. 5, Rule 2) shall be met.<br />
G. There shall be the following minimum seating capacities for<br />
the respective classifications-<br />

inches. Using the formula of number of feet times 12 divided by<br />

Rule 10. BASKETBALL TIE-BREAKING PROCEDURE.<br />
ALL CLASSES<br />
A. If two teams are tied from regular season conference play,<br />
tie-breaker procedures will be:<br />
1. Head to head in regular season conference play.<br />
2. If the two teams have split, margin of victory between the<br />
two teams, with a maximum of 10 points per game.<br />
3. If the two teams are still tied, all winning conference<br />
game points, with a maximum of 10 points per game.<br />
4. Forfeited games. Offended teams shall receive 10<br />
points when tabulating the sum of the winning margins<br />
for breaking conference ties.<br />
5. If the two teams are still tied, a coin flip by the <strong>Arkansas</strong><br />
<strong>Activities</strong> <strong>Association</strong>'s Executive Director or his<br />
designee will decide seeding.<br />
B. If three or more teams are in a tie from regular season<br />
conference play, tie-breaker procedures will be:<br />
1. Head-to-head competition<br />
2. If a team has been defeated by one of the other teams<br />
twice (or once when a single round robin is used), they<br />
will be eliminated.<br />
3. If two teams remain, the teams would go to step two<br />
listed above Paragraph A.<br />
4. If step two does not break the tie, step three would<br />
follow, then step four, then five. If three teams remain,<br />
the teams would go to Paragraph C.<br />
C. If three or more teams are tied and each team has split (or<br />
a perfect triangle), each position will be decided using the<br />
two team tie-breaking procedure in Paragraph A to<br />
determine which two teams go head to head for the first<br />
available position. First, tabulate the margin of victory in all<br />
conference games (up to 10 points per game). The two<br />
teams with the greatest margin of victory in conference<br />
games shall utilize the procedure in Paragraph A to<br />
determine the first position available. Use the same<br />
process to determine the second position available and all<br />
other positions available for the teams involved in a three<br />
or more team perfect triangle tie.<br />
SECTION 6. TRACK AND FIELD<br />
Rule 1. CLASSIFICATION. Classification of schools for track<br />
and field shall be the same as their basketball classification.<br />
Note: Number of conferences or districts may be adjusted as<br />
necessary.<br />

Rule 2. MEET DATES AND SITES<br />
A. State meets shall be scheduled in weeks #46 and #47.
