TEACHER-COACH VERIFICATION (SCHOOL’S REQUIRED)
(INCLUDING ALL SCHOOL COACHES OF COMPETITIVE SPIRIT TEAMS)
FOR A LICENSED TEACHER WHO DOES NOT HAVE A COACHING ENDORSEMENT AND MUST BE
CREDENTIALED THROUGH THE AAA-NFHS COACHES EDUCATION PROGRAM
Completing and submitting this form stating that all specified documents are ON FILE AT THE SCHOOL is required
for each licensed teacher who is assigned interscholastic coaching duties and who does NOT have either: (1) an
ADE coaching endorsement, or (2) a physical education teaching license approved by the ADE for coaching (with
written ADE statement of approval or proper licensure code by ADE).
Such teacher-coaches must be assigned professional duties in the district for a minimum of three regular class
periods or equivalent time each day, part of which may be interscholastic coaching duties.

When a licensed teacher has no coaching endorsement or ADE approval to coach the school is required to have the
following confirmed credentials prior to the individual assuming interscholastic coaching duties, including practice.

1. Current teaching license - licensed teacher in the school district where he/she coaches
2. Certificate of Completion – NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching (online at www.nfhslearn.com)
3. Current Certificate of Completion – NFHS First Aid for Coaches (online at www.nfhslearn.com - recertification
required every 3 years)
4. Notification of successful completion of AAA state rules exam (non sport specific)
5. Certification – CPR (recertification upon expiration)
6. Certification – AED (defibrillator - recertification upon expiration)
7. Concussion Training – NFHS Concussion Course (online at www.nfhslearn.com)
8. Heat Illness Training - available through ArkansasIDEAS at http://ideas.aetn.org/
9. MSRA Training – Requirement begins for the 2012-2013 school year
10. Certification of Completion - NFHS Sport Specific Fundamentals course, if available, for each sport coached –

Certificate of Completion - NFHS Teaching Sports Skills, if sport-specific fundamentals course is not yet available for your
sport.
In addition, competitive and non-competitive cheer coaches must have:
Current AACCA Safety Certification (4-yr certification – recertify by taking the course again
NOTE: A coach of more than one sport must take the sport-specific fundamentals course for each sport coached. For a multi-sport coach, if
one sport’s fundamentals course is available and the other is not, the coach must also complete the available sport-specific course(s) AND the
Teaching Sport Skills course.
