B. Sites shall be approved by the <strong>AAA</strong> Board of Directors.<br />

C. Qualifying meets shall be completed at least one week prior<br />

to the state meet at sites determined by conference<br />

organizations.<br />

Rule 3. ORDER OF EVENTS AND SCHEDULE<br />

A. The order of events and time schedule shall be<br />

recommended by the Track and Field Advisory Committee<br />

and approved by the <strong>AAA</strong> Board of Directors.<br />

B. Conference and other qualifying meets shall follow the state<br />

order of events but may deviate from the time schedule and<br />

may make other modifications as needed to accommodate<br />

the level of competition.<br />

Rule 4. PARTICIPANTS. The number of participants to be<br />

certified to state meets by a classification group per<br />

conference shall be recommended by the Track & Field<br />

Advisory Committee and approved by the <strong>AAA</strong> Board of<br />

Directors. The board shall be guided by the number of<br />

conferences in a classification, but shall not recommend<br />

more than 24 participants per event.<br />

A. Each conference/district by classification shall certify the<br />

following number of entries to the state meet.<br />

7A — Six<br />

6A __ Six<br />

5A — Four<br />

4A — Two<br />

3A — Two<br />

2A — Two<br />

1A — Two<br />

B. A track handbook recommended by the Track and Field<br />

Advisory Committee and approved by the <strong>AAA</strong> Board of<br />

Directors shall include all procedures for administering the<br />

conference, district, and state meets.<br />

Rule 5. SUBSTITUTIONS. No substitutions shall be permitted<br />

in the state meet for qualifiers except as described in the<br />

<strong>AAA</strong> Track & Field <strong>Handbook</strong>.<br />

Rule 6. RECORDS. The establishment of a state record will<br />

be recognized when set in the official State Track Meet.<br />

Meet of Champions records shall be set in the Meet of<br />

Champions only and shall be listed in addition to, and not in<br />

lieu of records established in any state track meet. Overall<br />

state records shall be the best performance from any state<br />

meet or Meet of Champs.<br />

Rule 7. MEET OF CHAMPIONS. The <strong>AAA</strong> may sponsor a<br />

Meet of Champions after the close of the track season. The<br />

Track & Field Advisory Committee shall make<br />

recommendations to be approved by the <strong>AAA</strong> Board of<br />

Directors.<br />

Rule 8. DECATHLON-HEPTATHLON. The <strong>AAA</strong> may sponsor<br />

a decathlon for boys and a heptathlon for girls after the<br />

close of the track season. The Track & Field Advisory<br />

Committee shall make recommendations to be approved by<br />

the <strong>AAA</strong> Board of Directors.<br />

NOTE: The <strong>AAA</strong> Board of Directors shall be responsible for<br />

the organization and administration of tournaments, meets,<br />

etc. and is authorized to formulate policies and procedures<br />

not otherwise provided for in conducting the sport.<br />

Decathlon-Heptathlon - Cross Country - Golf<br />

SECTION 7. CROSS COUNTRY<br />

Rule 1. CLASSIFICATION. Classification of schools for cross<br />

country shall be as follows –<br />

BOYS AND GIRLS<br />

7A, 6A, 5A, 4A, 3A, 2A (includes 1A)<br />

Rule 2. The <strong>AAA</strong> Board of Directors may sponsor a state cross<br />

country meet upon the recommendation of the Track & Field<br />

Advisory Committee.<br />

NOTE: The <strong>AAA</strong> Board of Directors shall be responsible for<br />

the organization and administration of tournaments, meets,<br />

etc. and is authorized to formulate policies and procedures<br />

not otherwise provided for in conducting the sport.<br />

SECTION 8. GOLF<br />

Rule 1. CLASSIFICATION. Classification of schools for golf<br />

shall be as follows:<br />

BOYS AND GIRLS<br />

7A, 6A, 5A, 4A, 3A, 2A, 1A. Each classification shall be<br />

limited to a maximum of six (6) conferences.<br />

Rule 2. STATE QUALIFYING PROCEDURES.<br />

A. BOYS<br />

7A and 6A — May have five players with the four lowest<br />

scores determining team score. Top four teams from each<br />

of the two conference tournaments plus the seven (7)<br />

individuals with the lowest score that are not a member of a<br />

qualifying team, not to exceed a total of 27 participants.<br />

5A – May have five players with the four lowest scores<br />

determining team score. Top three teams from each of the<br />

four conference tournaments plus the three (3) individuals<br />

with the lowest score that are not a member of a qualifying<br />

team, not to exceed a total of 18 participants.r<br />

4A, 3A, 2A, 1A — Three of four players with the three<br />

lowest scores determining team score. Top two teams from<br />

each of the six conferences plus the four individuals with the<br />

lowest score who are not a member of a qualifying team.<br />

B. GIRLS<br />

7A and 6A — Three, four or five players with three lowest<br />

scores determining team score. Top four teams from each<br />

of the two conference tournaments plus the seven (7)<br />

individuals with the lowest score that are not a member of a<br />

qualifying team, not to exceed a total of 27 participants.<br />

5A – Three or four players with the three lowest scores<br />

determining team score. Top three teams from each of the<br />

four regional tournaments plus the six individuals with the<br />

lowest score who are not a member of a qualifying team, not<br />

to exceed a total of 18 participants.<br />

4A, 3A, 2A, 1A — Three or four players with the three<br />

lowest scores determining team score. Top two teams from<br />

each of the six conferences plus the four individuals with the<br />

lowest score who are not a member of a qualifying team.<br />

Rule 3. TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS AND MEDALIST<br />

A. There shall be both individual and team championships in<br />

golf. A school may enter one team. No team champion will<br />

be declared in any meet that has fewer than four teams<br />

competing.<br />

B. Medalist. The individual with the lowest score will be the<br />
