Soccer Tiebreaker - Bowling - Spirit<br />

Note: Students are only allowed to try out for or practice<br />

with the non-school team. Practice is an activity involving<br />

the players of only one school’s team.<br />

D. Season - Begins on week #32 and ends with the state<br />

tournament.<br />

E. Invitational Tournaments<br />

1. A varsity team may participate in two invitational<br />

tournaments.<br />

2. Middle schools that have a separate <strong>AAA</strong> membership<br />

may play in one tournament that does not count<br />

against the total number of allowable tournaments for a<br />

junior high.<br />

No middle school athlete may compete in more than three<br />

total tournaments including junior high and middle school.<br />

Rule 6. END OF SEASON. See Seasons and Limitations<br />

Chart for senior high.<br />

Junior high season shall end with the final season event or<br />

tournament for their school.<br />

Rule 7. STATE QUALIFYING TIE-BREAKING<br />

PROCEDURE<br />

A. If two teams are tied from regular season conference<br />

play, tie-breaker procedure will be<br />

1. Head to head in regular season conference play<br />

2. If the two teams have split, margin of victory between<br />

the two teams, with a maximum of three (3) goals per<br />

game<br />

3. If the two teams are still tied, all winning conference<br />

game goals, with a maximum of three (3) goals per<br />

game<br />

4. Forfeited games. Offended teams shall receive three<br />

(3) goals when tabulating the sum of the winning<br />

margins for breaking conference ties. Teams will<br />

receive no goals for tied conference games.<br />

5. If two teams are still tied, a coin flip by the <strong>Arkansas</strong><br />

<strong>Activities</strong> <strong>Association</strong> Executive Director or his<br />

designee will decide seeding.<br />

B. If three or more teams are in a tie from regular season<br />

conference play, tie-breaker procedures will be:<br />

1. Head-to-head competition<br />

2. If a team has been defeated by one of the other<br />

teams twice (or once when a single round robin is<br />

used), they will be eliminated<br />

3. If two teams remain, the teams would go to step two<br />

listed above in paragraph A.<br />

4. If step two does not break the tie, step three would<br />

follow, then step four, then five. If three teams<br />

remain, the teams would go to paragraph C.<br />

C. If three or more teams are tied and each team has<br />

split (or a perfect triangle), each position will be<br />

decided using the two team tie-breaking procedure<br />

in paragraph A to determine which two teams go<br />

head to head for the first available position. First,<br />

tabulate the margin of victory in all conference<br />

games (up to 3 goals per game). The two teams<br />

with the greatest margin of victory in conference<br />

games shall utilize the procedure in paragraph A to<br />

determine the first position available. Use the same<br />

process to determine the second position available<br />

and all other positions available for the teams<br />

involved in a three or more team “perfect triangle”<br />

tie.<br />

SECTION 15. BOWLING<br />

Rule 1. INTERSCHOLASTIC COMPETITION<br />

A. Competition will be held for students in grades 9-12 in all<br />

participating <strong>AAA</strong> member schools.<br />

B. The Board of Directors is authorized to determine the date<br />

and site of the state bowling tournament.<br />

C. An advisory committee may be appointed by the <strong>AAA</strong> to<br />

make recommendations to the <strong>AAA</strong> Board of Directors.<br />

D. There will be three classifications, 7A-6A, 5A-4A, and 3A-<br />

2A-1A.<br />

NOTE: The Board of Directors shall be responsible for the<br />

organization and administration of meets and is authorized<br />

to formulate rules and procedures not otherwise provided<br />

for in conducting such meets.<br />

SECTION 16. WRESTLING<br />

A. Competition will be held for all students in grades 9-12 in<br />

all participating <strong>AAA</strong> member schools.<br />

B. The Board of Directors is authorized to determine the<br />

date and site of the state wrestling tournament.<br />

C. An advisory committee may be appointed by the <strong>AAA</strong> to<br />

make recommendations to the <strong>AAA</strong> Board of Directors.<br />

D. The state tournament will consist of two divisions, 7A-6A<br />

and 5A-1A. State championships for each division and<br />

individual state champions will be awarded for each of<br />

the 14 weight classes. Each school may qualify one<br />

wrestler per weight classification.<br />

NOTE: The Board of Directors shall be responsible for the<br />

organization and administration of meets and is authorized to<br />

formulate rules and procedures not otherwise provided for in<br />

conducting such meets.<br />

SECTION 17. SPIRIT<br />

Rule 1. INTERSCHOLSTIC COMPETITION<br />

A. Competition will be held for students in grades 9-12<br />

in all participating <strong>AAA</strong> member schools.<br />

B. The Board of Directors is authorized to determine<br />

the date and site of the state spirit competitions.<br />

C. The state spirit competitions will involve teams only;<br />

there will be no solo or small ensemble competition.<br />

The minimum number to constitute a team is five.<br />

Because of safety issues, the maximum number of<br />

athletes competing on a competitive cheer team will<br />

be 36.<br />

D. A member of an interscholastic spirit team may not<br />

compete on a non-school team during the<br />

interscholastic spirit season.<br />

E. Senior high school spirit teams may participate in<br />

five invitational competitions before the state<br />

competition.<br />

F. Junior high school spirit teams may compete in five<br />

invitational competitions.
