NOTE 1: Football schools may schedule basketball games earlier<br />

than week #19 if the football season is shortened but may not begin<br />

before week #17, nor play additional games.<br />

NOTE 2: All varsity basketball teams may also participate in two<br />

invitational tournaments. Non-football schools may add a third<br />

basketball tournament by excluding three regular season basketball<br />

games. Football schools may add a third basketball tournament by<br />

excluding two regular season basketball games.<br />

Baseball and Softball varsity teams may play a maximum of 22<br />

regular season games with two invitational tournaments.<br />

Volleyball varsity teams may play 18 regular season matches and<br />

three invitational tournaments, or twenty regular season matches<br />

and two invitational tournaments.<br />

Soccer varsity teams may play 16 regular season events and two<br />

invitational tournaments.<br />

Spirit teams may participate in five invitational events.<br />

In team sports, middle schools that have a separate <strong>AAA</strong><br />

membership may play in one tournament that does not count<br />

against the total number allowable for a junior high.<br />

No middle school athlete may compete in more than three total<br />

tournaments including junior high and middle school.<br />

BENEFIT GAMES<br />

Each varsity team of <strong>AAA</strong> member schools may participate in ONE<br />

interscholastic benefit game that does not count toward the season<br />

limitation for that sport. The school must agree to give the stated<br />

percentage of proceeds from such benefit events to the <strong>AAA</strong><br />

Catastrophe Insurance Fund.<br />

SPORT REQUIREMENTS FOR BENEFIT GAMES<br />

• Football games may be played only during Week #8 and shall<br />

not start before 5:30 on weekdays.<br />

• Basketball games for non-football playing schools may be<br />

played during Week #15 or any time during the regular season.<br />

• Basketball games for football playing schools may only be<br />

played during the regular basketball season or on the Saturday<br />

immediately following the last regular season football playing<br />

date.<br />

• For All Basketball Benefit Events: When playing only one<br />

game, play may not begin before 6:30 p.m. on school nights.<br />

When two games (jr. high and/or sr. high) are played on the<br />

same night, play may not begin before 5:30 p.m. on school<br />

nights. Jamborees involving three or more schools may not<br />

begin before 5:30 p.m. on school nights.<br />

• Volleyball matches/games may be played from Week #7 or<br />

any time during the regular season. Volleyball games may not<br />

begin before 5:30 p.m. on weekdays.<br />

• Baseball and Softball games may be played from Week #34<br />

or any time during the regular season and may not begin before<br />

3:30 p.m. on weekdays.<br />

• Soccer matches may be played from Week #34 or any time<br />

during the regular season and may not begin before 3:30 p.m.<br />

on weekdays.<br />

NUMBER OF BENEFIT GAMES OR MATCHES<br />

There shall be only one game or portion of a game per varsity (sr.<br />

boys, jr. boys, sr. girls, jr. girls) squad allowed. NO JR. VARSITY<br />

OR “B” TEAM GAMES.<br />

Baseball, Softball, Soccer, Football and Basketball Jamborees,<br />

where several schools play each other a portion of a game, are<br />

permissible provided no school plays more than the equivalent of a<br />

full game.<br />

Volleyball Jamborees, where several schools play each other a<br />

portion of a match, are permissible provided no player participates<br />

in more than five games.<br />
