14 “The Tally Chamber” - a k<strong>in</strong>d <strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice where <strong>the</strong> lavfogde (“headframe bailiff”),<br />

toge<strong>the</strong>r with two stigare (“walkers”) and <strong>the</strong> skräbas (“pick<strong>in</strong>g boss”), kept<br />

accounts <strong>of</strong> all stackrum (“quarter cords”) at <strong>the</strong> “pick<strong>in</strong>g hills” by <strong>in</strong>cis<strong>in</strong>g<br />

marks on sticks - tallies. The build<strong>in</strong>g probably dates from <strong>the</strong> first half <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

19th century.<br />

15 Adolf Fredrik’s Headframe, a shaft superstructure from 1845, designed and built<br />

by chief eng<strong>in</strong>eer C.G. Husberg and moved to its present location because <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

m<strong>in</strong>e’s expansion, which left it without a natural shaft under <strong>the</strong> floor. The<br />

headframe burnt down on 2nd May 1999, but is to be re-erected.<br />

17 Fredrik’s Wheelhouse - designed by chief eng<strong>in</strong>eer Carl Gustaf Husberg <strong>in</strong> 1853.<br />

The build<strong>in</strong>g was moved to its present location because <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> m<strong>in</strong>e’s expansion<br />

and no longer has a waterwheel.<br />

19 The Gamla Gruvstugan m<strong>in</strong>e <strong>of</strong>fice was built as a workers’ hut and storage<br />

build<strong>in</strong>g towards <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> 19th century, us<strong>in</strong>g cast blocks <strong>of</strong> slag from <strong>the</strong><br />

extraction plant <strong>in</strong> <strong>Falun</strong>. It is now a centre for art studies.<br />

powered pump-rod systems and w<strong>in</strong>ches <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> m<strong>in</strong>e shafts. This build<strong>in</strong>g,<br />

constructed by Håkan Steffansson <strong>in</strong> 1855, rema<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>in</strong> use until 1916. The<br />

w<strong>in</strong>ch house is <strong>the</strong> only one surviv<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> Sweden.<br />
