New Features for OS 2200 LINC Systems
For LINC Release 16.3, you can now use mixed Kanji data in Ad Hoc queries. You must
reedit any existing Ad Hoc queries to take advantage of this new functionality.
New Features for OS 2200 Based LINC Systems
The following new features apply to OS 2200 based LINC Systems.
Installing with SOLAR
For LINC Release 16R3, the installation tools have been changed to use the designated
Unisys tool, SOLAR, to install LINC Deployment. You still use COMUS to configure and
build the LINC Deployment prior installing it using SOLAR.
Enhanced Debugging Facility
In LINC Release 16R3, the LINC System command :DBG has been enhanced. You can use
this command for LINC Systems and LINC Reports to:
$ Output a full dump of your database and OLTP buffers.
$ Print traced information in your own format, by using the USERDBG routine. This
feature applies only to LINC Systems and LINC Reports generated in UCS mode.

Dynamically Changing Recovery Method
In LINC Release 16R3, you can use LRU to dynamically change your choice of database
recovery method. In previous releases, you were required to choose your recovery method
(Quick Look method or Deferred Updates method) before generating your LINC System.
This change does not apply to LINC Reports.
Immediate Effect of LSM Changes
In LINC Release 16R3, the LINC Security Module (LSM) has been enhanced to action
changes immediately. When LINC Security is turned on, security checking is actioned
immediately for all users, even those currently signed on to the LINC System. This may
cause the Userid/Password screen to be displayed when the next transmit occurs.
