New Features for OS 2200 LINC Systems
For releases prior to LINC Release 16R3, the SA$ file contained a variety of RDMS tables.
The same storage area parameters applied for all tables, and as these were often accessed
at the same time, the efficiency of the use of system resources was decreased.
For LINC Release 16R3, the RDMS storage area SA$ has been divided into separate files,
with each file now containing tables that have common uses. This change improves the
efficiency of access to the appropriate RDMS tables and therefore improves the
performance of your LINC System, especially when initiating and terminating LINC
Reports.
Remapping and Relinking All Reports
In LINC Release 16R3, you can use the MAPALLREPS SGS parameter to enable the
remapping and relinking of all your LINC Reports when reconfiguring your LINC System
from disk. For previous LINC Releases, you had to remap and relink your LINC Reports
using the Report Batch Generate facility.
Initializing with MCB When Using USERPRT
In LINC Release 16R3, a new execution option for LINC Reports causes your Direct
Reports to initialize with the MCB before the call to USERPRT. See your OS 2200 Based
LINC Administration and Operations Guide for details.
Note: You must regenerate LINC Reports in your current release of LINC before
migrating to the LINC Release 16R3.
Operator Keyins
In LINC Release 16R3, LINC Deployment has been enhanced to:
$ Replace II keyins with operator console commands for the LINC Background Run and
HUB Background run. This enables you to enter commands more conveniently.
$ Provide the ability to enter ROC spooler commands from an operator console (in
addition to entering them from a TIP terminal), and expands the range of ROC spooler
commands.
