$ If you plan to use the new LDA Version Control feature, you will require additional
disk space. As a minimum, the Version Control Server requires a Pentium 133 with
64MB of RAM and a 100MB pagefile. Each connection to the Version Control Server
takes 10MB. The Universal Repository (UREP) software requires a minimum of 30MB.
The minimum requirement for the Version Control Bank is 350MB. When the OSMOS
database is created it pre-allocates the hard disk space required. As you add objects to
the Bank, the pre-allocated space is used up. Once the space is used up, you cannot
add any more objects to the Bank with expanding it.
$ If you are migrating from Release 1.3, you should also consider the following:
v LDA Release 2.3 requires a 32-bit operating system. The LDA Server runs only on
Windows NT. Windows NT is also recommended for the client workstations.
v Since LDA Release 2.2, numerics in the database are stored in a different format.
You need to convert existing numeric data to this format. This is done by
physically reorganizing the LDA Run Time database. If a physical reorganization is
not done and old format numerics are found, you will be warned that you can only
continue by using logical reorganization.
To ensure successful migration:
1. Install the software according to the recommendations in your LINC Development
Installation and Administration Guide.
2. Configure the software according to the recommendations in your LINC
Development Installation and Administration Guide.
3. Reload the repository and security details, and validate each business segment.
4. Reorganize the LDA Run Time database.
To extract the existing repository, use the procedure in your LINC Development
Installation and Administration Guide.
