Ensure there are no locks
Ensure that no parts of the LINC Specification that are to loaded are locked. If they are, the
load may fail.
LCIF release levels
Only LCIF files from LDA Release 1.3 and Release 2.1 or later can be loaded.
KANJI LCIF Files for OS 2200 based LINC Generate
For Kanji, the LCIF file is always in SHIFTEDJIS format. Any Kanji translation from
SHIFTEDJIS format to the host Kanji representation is performed by the upload /
download program supplied by Nihon Unisys Limited (NUL).
LCIF Files Created by LDA
LCIF file creation by LDA trims trailing spaces from all record types. When you transfer an
LCIF file from LDA to an MCP or an OS 2200 based host, fixed-length records are written.
Generate Set Considerations
As the LCIF file formats for LDA Release 1.3 contain only Environmental options records
for each host, the Environmental option record for current host type is used as the Primary
Generate Set. A full CASE Load generates a Primary Generate Set of the name of the LINC
System. A partial CASE Load uses the existing Primary Generate Set.
The other environmental options records (those for host types other than that on which
the load is being run) are loaded into Generate Sets named ASERIES, OS1100, orUNIX,as
appropriate. For a full load, these Generate Sets are created, if required. For a partial load,
they are used only if they already exist.
From LDA Release 2.1, all Generate Set information contained in the LCIF file is loaded
during a full load and extracted when you run a CASE Extract. If the primary Generate Set
is not for the appropriate host type, the first Generate Set (alphabetically) for the host type
is used. If there is no such Generate Set, then a primary Generate Set named ASERIES,
OS1100, orUNIX, as appropriate, is created.
