Installing Enterprise Application Environment Software Installing Runtime with PAEXEC Partitioned applications can be switched between hosts in a PAEXEC environment, although an application can only be running on one host at a time. You must install Runtime on both of the hosts in the PA EXEC configuration. During installation of Runtime, RDMS tables for applications that can be switched are catalogued on mass-storage. You must ensure that a shared mass-storage device is used in the COMUS configuration, if removable packs are used on your hosts. 3–14 78616323–000
Before Using Runtime Installing Enterprise Application Environment Software After installing Runtime, you must perform the tasks outlined in the following subsection before it can be used. Turn on TIP Transaction Processing Use the FB command to ensure that the FB OP$MAIN parameter is on. This effectively turns TIP transaction processing ON. For more details, see your OS 2200 TIP Installation Guide. Create TIP Memory Groups TIP memory groups are automatically created within the total available TIP memory, as specified in the TPMEMX parameter. You may choose to use the automatically created groups, or to change them. There is an overhead if the available TIP memory groups do not match the requirements of your Systems. Note: For SB6 (and above), TIP memory is dynamic and does not need to be configured. Manually changing the TIP memory groups may improve performance, but requires a good knowledge of TIP. It is advisable to use the automatically created group, unless you have previous experience of tuning TIP memory. Changing TIP Memory Groups If you decide to change the TIP memory allocation group, ensure that all unwanted groups are deleted. To establish the TIP memory requirements for your Systems, use the TMINIT Utility to monitor current TIP memory group usage. Note: Before changing your TIP memory groups, it is advisable to switch transaction scheduling off, and wait until all active transactions have been completed. To switch scheduling off, enter the following from a system console: FB OFF SCHEDULE. The automatic TIP memory group allocation should be used for TIP environments running Enterprise Application Environment. However, you may wish to modify TIP memory groups to improve utilization of TIP memory. The following discussion provides details about memory usage that may help you establish TIP memory requirements. There are two important considerations about TIP memory allocation: • There must be a memory group allocation big enough to accommodate your largest IBANK plus its associated relocatable (RSEG) DBANK. The TIP memory group acquired by your ICP has to accommodate not only the DBANK for the ICP, but also the DBANKS of any subprograms it uses. As Ispecs are subprograms, a TIP memory group must exist that is large enough to accommodate the DBANK for the ICP plus the DBANK of your largest Ispec. 78616323–000 3–15
