In this course we shall explore various ways in which the law affects business
activities. Close readings of legal texts in the fields of contract, employment, tort and
crime should enable us, for instance, to identify different types of (criminal and civil)
liability or to recognize the statutory framework within which particular cases have
been tried. Selected case studies are meant to highlight relevant concepts, issues
and topics for discussion. Some of the most important EU directives as well as more
recent legislation in the UK will also be reviewed.
All students have to do an oral presentation, and a list of topics will be made
available during office hours.

This advanced ESP class is a continuation of Business English I and II. To
participate in this third class you should ideally have completed the first two ESP
classes.
Course credits will be awarded to participants who complete the term assignments
and pass the end-of-term exam paper.
