General Lubrication<br />

EVERY 150 MILES<br />

The engine should be supplied with oil as often a» the hand on the oil gauge<br />

(directly under the carburetor on the engine) returns to "Fill." Add oil until the<br />

gauge hand returns to "Full." As a n le, oil should be added about every 150 miles<br />

of travel. (See under Engine Lubrication.)<br />

EVERY 500 MILES<br />

GREASE CUPS G AND G*<br />

Turn down grease cups G and G*.<br />

Turn down the grease cup on the instrument end of the speedometer cable.<br />

OIL HOLES IN SPINDLES<br />

These are oil holes for the bearings at the upper ends of the spindles. Engine oil<br />

should be applied every 500 miles.<br />

OIL HOLE FOR FAN BEARING<br />

The fan is driven by a spring, and is free to oscillate slightly on the fan shaft.<br />

25 is an oil hole through which the bearing at the fan hub may be lubricated.<br />

This oil hole is placed just back and at the base of the flange on the fan shaft<br />

against which the spring presses. You may find it necessary to crank the engine in<br />

order to bring this hole to the top.<br />

A few drops of engine oil should be applied every 500 miles.<br />

REPLACE OIL IN ENGINE<br />

Replace oil in the engine at the end of each 500 miles of travel.<br />

These are the rear and forward universal joints on the drive shaft. Fill with<br />

No. 1¾ cup grease every 1,000 miles.<br />

The forward universal joint is covered with a cylindrical shield to prevent grease<br />

being thrown on the floor boards. This shield is fitted with a small cover on the upper<br />

side. To fill the universal joint it is necessary first to remove this cover.<br />

BEARINGS ON ARMATURE<br />

These are oil cups for the bearings on the armature shaft.<br />

oil should be applied every 1,000 miles.<br />

OIL HOLES IN THE STEERING WHEEL HUB<br />

These are oil holes in the steering wheel hub. A few drops of engine oil should<br />

be applied every 1,000 miles.
