METAL ROOFING
Both roofing qualifications and plumbing qualifications incorporate varying
degrees of training in sheet metal working. While 65% of the wish-list skills for
metal roofing are covered (and a further 12% are partially covered) by the
plumbing qualifications assessed, only 47% are covered by roofing qualifications.
Roofing qualifications do not cover cold bossing or joint types. Nor is the fixing or
welding of metals covered, although the TAPS does partially cover the fixing of
pre-formed metal ridges.
Plumbing (MES Dom) does not cover decorative detailing, rolling, shaping and
forming metals or sarking and traditional timber.
