BA<br />

Code specifying an item.<br />

= Base article (<strong>GS1</strong> Code)<br />

A conceptual article identified for the purposes of ordering<br />

Customer Specific Articles. Base articles must always have<br />

configurations of options associated with them.<br />

++ BLK = Bulk consumer unit (<strong>GS1</strong> Code)<br />

+ BU = Base unit (<strong>GS1</strong> Code)<br />

++ CA = Case (<strong>GS1</strong> Code)<br />

The item is designed as a bulk consumer unit, i.e. to be sold<br />

mainly to hotels, restaurants, caterers, hospitals etc.<br />

The lowest level packaged unit for a given product, which may or<br />

may not be the consumer unit.<br />

++ CIT = Collateral Item (<strong>GS1</strong> Code)<br />

+ CMP = Composition (<strong>GS1</strong> Code)<br />

A grouping of existing compositions, base articles, new options,<br />

and/or new option values.<br />

+ CSF = Display material (<strong>GS1</strong> Code)<br />

Articles used to promote articles at the sale location.<br />

+ CSG = Full display stand (<strong>GS1</strong> Code)<br />

CU<br />

Display stand containing the articles to be displayed.<br />

= Cut to order (<strong>GS1</strong> Code)<br />

Code indicating that the current product may be sold in<br />

measurements cut to the customers specification, e.g. carpets.<br />

= Consumer unit (<strong>GS1</strong> Code)<br />

The package size of a product or products agreed by trading<br />

partners as the size sold at the retail point of sale.<br />

+ D = Available all the year round (<strong>GS1</strong> Code)<br />

The product is available all the year round.<br />

++ DAS = Dynamic Assortment (<strong>GS1</strong> Code)<br />

DF<br />

= Default (<strong>GS1</strong> Code)<br />

A line item in a Customer Specific Article which is a default option<br />

of a base article which will be automatically selected if none of the<br />

other available options are chosen.<br />

+ DIC = Discount coupon (<strong>GS1</strong> Code)<br />

A coupon that entitles to a discount.<br />

++ DSP = Display shipper (<strong>GS1</strong> Code)<br />

DST<br />

DU<br />

= Display stand (<strong>GS1</strong> Code)<br />

A stand used for display purposes which is generally not for sale<br />

to the consumer.<br />

= Despatch unit (<strong>GS1</strong> Code)<br />

The package size of a product or products which may be shipped<br />

when fulfilling an order.<br />

++ ETO = Engineer to Order (<strong>GS1</strong> Code)<br />

Engineer to Order includes products that are designed,<br />

developed and manufactured in response to a specific customer<br />

request.<br />
