HEALTH SERVICES REVIEW COUNCIL
PRESIDENT’S REPORT 2000/2001
I am pleased to report that the past year has been another active one for the Council.
The Council, working closely with the Health Services Commissioner, provides
advice and support in relation to the issues dealt with by the Commissioner under the
Health Services (Conciliation and Review) Act 1987.
In particular, the Act requires the Council:
• To advise the Minister on the health complaints’ system and the operations
of the Commissioner.
• To advise the Minister and the Commissioner on issues referred to it by the
Commissioner.
• With the Minister’s approval, to refer matters relating to health services’
complaints to the Commissioner for inquiry.
Membership
As at 30 June, 2001, the Council comprised:

The composition of the Council ensures a broad representation of the interests and
experience of providers in the health system, users of the health system and other
members who bring an independent view.
We note the resignation during the year of Ms Anita Tang, who provided a valuable
contribution to the work of the Council over her short period of tenure.
Unfortunately, due to a move interstate, Ms Tang was unable to remain on the
Council, and we offer our best wishes to her for the future.
We have recently welcomed Ms Marcia Coleman as a new Member.
