What a tremendous set of cows! We here at Fawcett’s Elm Creek Ranch feel very fortunate to be able to purchase the mature cows of one of the elite cowherds in the country. We would like to thank Roger and Judy Imig and Mike and Stacey Imig of Imig Herefords for this opportunity. The hospitality and fellowship was great. With the marriage of Daniel and Kari this past summer and their desire to become involved with the ranch, the decision was made to add to the registered Hereford herd. The purchase of the Imig mature cows combined with our existing herd should give us approximately 350 horned and polled purebred cows. We ranch here in central South Dakota in hard grass country where annual rainfall can be very limited. We believe in cattle that are very strong maternally, udder quality is very important, have moderate birth weights with performance and carcass traits bred into them. Cattle is our business as we run another 550 commercial cows. We feel this keeps us in touch with the kind of cattle we need to breed to keep the commercial man as well as the purebred breeder in business. In addition, we breed and merchandize top end replacement heifers that are raised here on the ranch or are purchased from our past customers.
