Im theologischen Diskurs um die Heilshoffnung
der nicht an den Messias Jesus glaubenden Juden
gelten die paulinischen Aussagen in Röm 9–11 als
neutestamentliche Basistexte, während der Beitrag
des lukanischen Doppelwerks oft unterschätzt wird.
Diese Monographie stellt das Potential des lukanischen
Ansatzes vor. Sie untersucht biblische Traditionen
zur Heilshoffnung Israels, die von Lukas und
Paulus rezipiert werden, und zeigt in Textanalysen
aus verschiedenen Teilen des Doppelwerks, dass
auch Lukas – in biblischer Tradition, jedoch mit
anderem Konzept als Paulus – an einer eschatologischen
Hoffnung für Israel festhält.
Paul’s statements in Romans 9–11 are considered
the fundamental texts in the New Testament underlying
theological discourse about the possibilities
of salvation for Jews who did not believe in Jesus
as the Messiah. Meanwhile, the importance of the
dual contribution contained in Luke-Acts is often
underestimated. This monograph highlights the
potential significance of the Gospel of Luke. It
explores the Biblical traditions about Israel’s salvation
that were received by Luke and Paul, and uses
textual analyses of different portions of Luke-Acts
to show that like Paul, Luke also held out eschatological
hope for Israel, although this hope was
based on a different perspective.

Die Pastoralbriefe gelten seit Heinrich Julius Holtzmann
als „unzertrennliche Drillinge“. Interpretiert
man diese Briefe jedoch als literarisches Schriftencorpus,
lassen sich die inhaltlichen Unterschiede
zwischen ihnen nicht plausibel erklären. Deshalb
fragt die Untersuchung neu nach dem besonderen
Profil der einzelnen Briefe und ihrem literarischen
Verhältnis. Im Ergebnis kann gezeigt werden, dass
es sich beim ersten Timotheusbrief um das jüngste
Schreiben handelt. Sein Verfasser rezipiert die
beiden anderen Pastoralbriefe bereits als Teil der
Paulustradition.
Ever since the work of Heinrich Julius Holtzmann,
the pastoral epistles have been regarded as “inseparable
triplets”. And yet, if one analyzes these letters
as a corpus of literary works, it is hard to find a
plausible explanation for the substantive differences
between them. Therefore, this study returns to the
question of the specific nature of the individual
epistles and their literary relationships. In the end,
it can be shown that the first Letter to Timothy is
the most recent text. Its author had already received
the two other pastoral epistles as part of the Pauline
tradition.

Iulius Africanus (3rd cent.) is a fascinating intellectual
in a period of transition. Author of the
first Christian world chronicle (Chronographiae),
he also wrote a comprehensive and multifaceted
manual of many fields of knowledge, where the
religious character is open to debate. The preserved
fragments of the Cesti treat military, technical,
medical and many other topics. These texts are
presented in an entirely new critical edition, based
on a thorough analysis of all channels of transmission.
The edition is accompanied by notes and a
new English translation.
