Person of Interest Episode Guide
games. Genrika comes out... a 10-year-old girl. She explains that her mother is in prison in
Russia and she never knew her dad, and her grandfather in America died eight months ago. The
man she lives with is her third cousin Vadim Loginov, who complains about how Gen is always
sneaking around taking photos. Gen says that she’s practicing for a career in international
espionage, and wonders why Sam is there instead of her usual agent. Sam realizes that she’s
bluffing and asks if she needs help, and Gen complains that she’s running late for school.
Finch checks Gen’s background and discovers that her mother was imprisoned for protesting
the Putin administration. Her grandfather brought her to the US, dying and leaving her alone.
Finch suggests that Sam might have been nicer. Meanwhile, Gen spots Sam following her, much
to Sam’s chagrin, and Reese takes over. Sam goes to recon Gen’s building, while Finch talks to
Reese privately and suggests that they keep Sam away from Gen to avoid frightening the girl.
Sam breaks in to agree, pointing out that she bugged Finch’s office.
As Reese follows Gen, men pull up in a car and try to abduct her. Reese goes over and takes
them on, while Gen runs off. Their leader, Tremors, runs after Gen with one of his men. Gen
runs to a basement stairway and Sam emerges and opens fire, driving the men off.
1993 — The Machine brings up footage of a car accident. The emergency responders confirm he
driver is DOA and there’s a girl alive in the back: Sameen.
2013 — As Sam takes Gen further into the building, she tells Finch that the men are still after
them. Reese moves in while Gen tells Sam that they wanted her because she’s a spy. Sam doesn’t
believe her while Reese tells Finch that Tremors may have had Parkinson’s. While Finch tries to
identify the man, Gen taps on Sam’s shoulder and admits that she thought she might be a robot.
Finch calls Carter, who isn’t able to confirm Tremors’ identity. She admits that Gen lives in
a blind spot where funding for cameras ran out. Meanwhile, Laskey secretly watches Carter and
calls to tell Simmons that she’s on a secret car. Laskey then joins Carter in the car and asks
where she was. She notices that he has a new gun and Laskey says that he bought it illegally in
New Jersey. Carter points out that it has to have a ballistic test on file and takes it from him.
Tremors gets a call from his boss and assures him that they’ll get Gen, but warns that the
girl has backup.
While Reese clears Sam’s escape route, Sam impatiently tries to ignore Gen’s questions. The
girl realizes that Sam is performing a job and figures that she works for an agency. Sam insists
that they’re not an agency. Two of the kidnappers move in and Sam offers to go after them, but
Finch tells her to get Gen out while Reese deals with them. The kidnappers spot them and give
chase, and Gen leads Sam to an access tunnel. Inside is her ”listening station,” where she has
cameras and tape recorders rigged up.
Gen discovers that someone cut the power and Sam calls Finch to say that Gen may have
recorded someone planning a crime. Gen says that she was trying to get rid of the drug dealers
in her building, and was going to take her evidence to the police once she had enough evidence.
The girl says that the tapes are hidden somewhere safe, but Sam points out that she’s also a spy
and gets the girl to tell her where they’re hidden.
Tremors and his men find the grille leading to the maintenance tunnel, but Reese arrives
and opens fire on them. While his man keeps Reese occupied, Tremors calls to have his men
bring in masks and gas grenades. Meanwhile, Sam introduces herself and Gen explains that her
grandfather was in the KGB and taught her how to run surveillance. He also gave Gen his Order
of Lenin medal. Sam suggests that she should sell it and Gen wonders what’s wrong with her.
After a moment, Sam explains that she doesn’t get scared or sad or happy or lonely, and she’s
been that way since she was Gen’s name.
Gas starts pouring in and Sam realizes that it will soon overwhelm them. She tries to get Gen
out but Tremors’ gas masked thugs are coming after them. She manages to kill one, but another
thug grabs Gen and a third one knocks Sam out.
1993 — While his people try to get Sameen out, the EMT talks to the girl. She explains that her
father is in the military and they move around a lot. The EMT says that they’ll call Sameen’s
mom and then cuts her out and carries her to the ambulance.
2013 — One of Tremors’ men drives Sam to a deserted spot to kill her. She knocks him out
with a tire iron, takes his phone and calls Finch. He hasn’t had any luck finding Gen. Reese
arrives with Ben while Finch sends Sam the address of a doctor who can help her. Finch goes
to a payphone and removes the cover, revealing Gen’s tape. Sam says that she doesn’t want to
be punished for making a mistake, but Finch assures her that they’re trying to protect her and
