Summary:<br />

As the POI team seeks justice for Carter’s murder, Finch realizes one<br />

of his team members may go one step too far in order to end the war<br />

with HR. Also, The Machine gives out the Number for NYPD Officer<br />

Patrick Simmons, one of the crime organization’s key players.<br />

Reese lies in the hospital, unconscious.<br />

Finch sits at his side for a while,<br />

and finally gets up and goes.<br />

Paul Carter and his son Taylor sit<br />

at Carter’s grave. Finch and Sam stand<br />

nearby, watching, while Fusco and the<br />

other NYPD officers attend the funeral.<br />

Across New York, newspaper headlines<br />

announce the search for Simmons,<br />

Carter’s killer. Finch walks down the<br />

street and finally goes to a payphone. It<br />

rings and he answers, and then goes to<br />

the headquarters and deciphers the new<br />

Number. It belongs to... Simmons.<br />

Sam goes through New York interrogating<br />

anyone who might know where Simmons is.<br />

Simmons buys a fake ID so he can get out of the country. As the three men who sell him the<br />

ID drive away, Reese rams their car with a truck. He holds up Simmons’ photo and demands<br />

answers, and the men tell him what he wants to know.<br />

2010 — Finch meets with a therapist and discusses her technique. The therapist asks what he<br />

wants to talk about, and Finch asks if grief has a purpose. She suggests that they talk about<br />

his circumstances and asks if he lost someone, and Finch explains that he lost his closest friend<br />

in an accident. The therapist asks if he has someone to comfort him, and Finch says that he<br />

was in a relationship but it’s over now. He explains that he’s reevaluating choices that he made.<br />

The therapist tells him that grief causes a false sense of lucidity, but Finch says that he wants<br />
