for the study of the campaign that inspired the poem O Uruguay, by José Basílio da Gama.
Barreto differs from Borba in his opinion of this work, saying that it is full of errors, that
it tends to glorify the chief of the expedition at the expense of objectivity, and that its
only merit is literary or as an historical artifact.
