'Red Fury' Originator Carlos Magdalena (United Kingdom) Parentage P. racemosa (♀) × P. quadriglandulosa (♂) Description Stem round, slightly pubescent; flowers 14cm in diameter, partly reflexing, solitary on young shoots with raceme-like branches at base of plant; petals 4.3 - 4.5cm x 0.9cm, bright red on adaxial surface, white at base, whitish red on abaxial surface; sepals 5.9 - 6.5cm x 0.9 - 1.1cm, bright red on adaxial surface, white at base, keeled with awn; corona filaments in three series, all white, wine red to apex and base, outermost series erect 1.1 - 1.2cm long, inner series erect 0.4cm long, innermost series 0.8 - 0.9cm long, united into short membrane at base, apex encloses androgynophore; leaves three-lobed, asymmetric, glabrous, slightly serrated, pale green, 12.1 - 19.2cm x 14.3 - 20cm, red venation and leaf margin on younger leaves; stipules glabrous, lanceolate to connate, serrated, 0.9cm x 0.1 - 0.2cm, yellowish green to red, deciduous; petiole slightly pubescent, reddish green, 3.1 - 4.8cm with 2 opposite to sub-opposite glands near base, occasionally an additional pair at apex; peduncle pubescent, 1.7 - 2.4cm, reddish brown; bracts slightly pubescent, oblong to oblong-lanceolate, serrated, 0.9 - 1.2cm x 0.4 - 0.5cm, yellowish green to red, glands absent; floral tube 0.7cm long, 1.0cm in diameter, bright red outside, white with wine red speckles inside; ovary ovoid, glabrous, yellowish green. 'Caprice' Originator Maurizio Vecchia (Italy) Parentage P. kermesina (♀) × P.tucumanensis (♂) Description Stem round; flowers 8cm in diameter, no fragrance; petals and sepals pink; outer corona filaments purple/white banded; leaves three-lobed 8cm long x 10cm wide, margin entire; petiole 3cm with two small deciduous glands; peduncle 4cm; bracts 1.2cm x 1.5cm. Flowering period June to October. First flowered in 2009. Minimum temperature 0C. Name refers to the ‘capricious’ filaments.
