Description Stem cylindrical; internodes 5.4 - 9.5cm; flowers 7.0 - 8.6cm in<br />

diameter, reflexing at anthesis (before midday); stamen<br />

filaments pale green; anthers adaxial surface pale green with<br />

yellow edges; styles slender, pale green with purple points;<br />

stigma olive green; fruits pendulous and green when ripe; petals<br />

2.7 - 3.5cm long, 0.6 - 1.1cm wide, light blue on both surfaces,<br />

apex ovate-lanceolate; sepals 3.3 - 4.4cm long, 0.8 - 1.5cm<br />

wide, adaxial surface light blue, abaxial surface green, apex<br />

ovate-lanceolate; corona filaments in 3 - 4 series, 5.0 - 6.6cm in<br />

diameter, outermost series 1.7 - 2.7cm long, second series 1.5 -<br />

2.6cm long, filiform, deep blue at base, white to apex; leaves<br />

three-lobed, entire, membranaceous, absence of hairs on both<br />

sides, 5.3 - 7.6cm long, 6.3 - 8.5cm wide; petiole 2.3 – 6.4cm;<br />

peduncle 2.1 – 4.9cm. Flowering all year in Brazil, with peak in<br />

August and September.
