Educating the community<br />
Negligence and Complaints outlines what constitutes<br />
negligence and the options for dealing with a complaint<br />
about negligence. Handling Disciplinary Complaints outlines<br />
the <strong>Legal</strong> <strong>Services</strong> <strong>Commissioner</strong>’s process for investigating<br />
disciplinary complaints.<br />
The <strong>Legal</strong> <strong>Services</strong> <strong>Commissioner</strong> disseminates these<br />
publications through a variety of forums.<br />
Copies of the above publications are included in the<br />
information packs distributed to groups through the<br />
Community Outreach Program. The <strong>Legal</strong> <strong>Services</strong><br />
<strong>Commissioner</strong> distributed 67 information packs to various<br />
community support groups during <strong>2008</strong>-<strong>09</strong>.<br />
Community support groups also contact the <strong>Legal</strong> <strong>Services</strong><br />
<strong>Commissioner</strong> directly for copies of the above publications.<br />
During <strong>2008</strong>-<strong>09</strong>, the <strong>Legal</strong> <strong>Services</strong> <strong>Commissioner</strong> received<br />
33 requests for publications from a range of groups,<br />
including Community <strong>Legal</strong> Centres, local councils and<br />
community information centres.<br />

Aims for community education<br />
in 20<strong>09</strong>-10<br />
In 20<strong>09</strong>-10, the <strong>Legal</strong> <strong>Services</strong> <strong>Commissioner</strong> aims to:<br />
• Expand the Community Outreach Program to engage<br />
with a diverse range of consumers across Victoria.<br />
• Invite a legal practitioner practising family law to join<br />
the Reference Group, to provide insight and advice on<br />
family law matters.<br />
During <strong>2008</strong>-<strong>09</strong>, the <strong>Legal</strong> <strong>Services</strong> <strong>Commissioner</strong><br />
distributed its publications to 65 Community <strong>Legal</strong><br />
Centres and 15 Victoria <strong>Legal</strong> Aid offices. These organisations<br />
are often the first point of contact for legal information<br />
and advice.<br />
