Human Resources<br />
Public administration values and<br />
employment principles<br />
The Public Administration Act 2004 abolished the Office<br />
of <strong>Commissioner</strong> for Public Employment and established<br />
the State <strong>Services</strong> Authority. Notwithstanding, the<br />
<strong>Legal</strong> <strong>Services</strong> <strong>Commissioner</strong> continues to implement<br />
the previous directions of the <strong>Commissioner</strong> for Public<br />
Employment with respect to upholding public sector<br />
conduct, managing and valuing diversity, managing<br />
underperformance, reviewing personal grievances and<br />
selecting on merit.<br />
Aims for Human Resources in 20<strong>09</strong>-10:<br />
In 20<strong>09</strong>-10, the Human Resources section of the <strong>Legal</strong><br />
<strong>Services</strong> <strong>Commissioner</strong> aims to:<br />
• Explore the possibility of creating an online<br />
Performance, Progression and Development system<br />
that can be accessed by the entire organisation.<br />
The <strong>Legal</strong> <strong>Services</strong> <strong>Commissioner</strong> demonstrated compliance<br />
with the Public Sector Values and employment principles<br />
through a range of initiatives identified in response to the<br />
People Matter Survey. The <strong>Legal</strong> <strong>Services</strong> <strong>Commissioner</strong><br />
conducted focus groups and information sessions to seek<br />
staff feedback on short and long term initiatives to improve<br />
staff satisfaction and organisational efficiencies.<br />
