I specialise in business planning, marketing and revenue maximisation for<br />
the tourism, hospitality and hotel sectors. I am a chartered accountant and<br />
professionally trained hotelier. I part owned and managed my own hotel<br />
business in the border area for 10 years before selling it for a significant<br />
return in 2006.<br />
I have spent the past four years helping and advising hospitality and<br />
tourism businesses, on both sides of the border, on how to maximise their<br />
revenues, how to tap into new markets using traditional techniques and new<br />
technologies, and how to extract the maximum potential and profitability out<br />
of their businesses.<br />
I have worked with Invest NI carrying out independent business reviews<br />
with a large number of their clients both within the tourism sector and in<br />
other sectors and have also mentored a number of these business on<br />
implementing the recommendations that were highlighted in my reports.<br />
I am currently a business mentor with Invest NI and am also on their panel<br />
of Interim Managers and Non-Executive Directors.<br />
I have also carried out extensive work with Failte Ireland on hotels, golf<br />
courses, pubs and other tourism businesses. I am currently on their<br />
Mentoring and Business Advisory panel and am also a mentor on their<br />
Optimus Best Practice programme. I have also carried out a number of<br />
specific projects for them on particular tourism products.<br />
In addition to the above I have a number of private clients, both North and<br />
South, to whom I provide on-going advice in terms of marketing, business<br />
strategy, financial planning and management information.<br />
I have also worked with a number of financial institutions, including NAMA,<br />
carrying out independent reviews of hotel and hospitality businesses and<br />
making recommendations as to how to improve the performance of these<br />
businesses from both a revenue maximisation and generation perspective as<br />
well as cost reductions and management reporting/information and controls.
