Gear is shared among 5 or 6 fishers usually- Cost of nyavu= 50000 Tsh Boat owned by one person and rented by crew. Boat with engine= 500 000 to 2.000.000 (Use boats in all season) Evolution Catch Income Catch has decreased in all season too many people fishing (use to catch 20 to 100 kgs in kaskazi now only 20 to 50 kgs). In kusi use to catch 10-20 kg same now. Income same because price of fish has increased a lot (was 500 Tsh a kg in 1995, now 1000 kg) but 500 Tsh in Kaskazi Gear preference (Matrix ranking) and reason Conflicts (who and why) 1. Nyavu because more catch and income but tiring 2. wando good catch and income less tiring than nets 3. Kokoro cheap to start (one person owns the net) but catch small and very tiring… Conflict with Park: banning fishing in Mkamba Mkubwa our only king fish area.
