FTA Pledge
The good teacher requires PHYSICAL VI-
TALITY. I will try to keep my body well
and strong. The good teacher requires
MENTAL VIGOR. I will study daily to keep
my mind active and alert. The good
teacher requires MORAL DISCRIMINATION.
I will seek to know the right and to live by
it. The good teacher requires a WHOLE-
SOME PERSONALITY. I will cultivate in
myself, goodwill, friendliness, poise, upright
bearing, and careful speech. The
good teacher requires HELPFULNESS. I will
learn the art of helping others by doing
helpful things daily in home and school.
The good teacher requires KNOWLEDGE.
I will fill my mind with worthy thoughts
by observing all that is beautiful in the
world around me, by reading the best books
and by associating with the best companions.
The good teacher requires LEADER-
SHIP. I will make my influence count on
the side of right, avoiding habits that
weaken and destroy. These things will I do
now that I may be worthy of the high office
of teacher.
The club has abandoned most entertaining
and "fun" activities in favor of a strong
student teaching program. On April 26th,
all FTA club members were invited to a
FTA banquet. High School teachers, and
elementary teachers who participated in
the student teaching program were also
invited. Guest of Honor was Myrtle E. Nelson.
A convention was held in Geneseo
where our chapter gave the pledge of Allegiance
and participated in the meeting.
A dinner was held at Howard Johnson's in
the quad-cities. We sent representatives
from our club to participate in a discussion
of improving individual clubs.
