Oar Smiling Trackettes
"First call for the two-mile relay, all
runners report to the starting line at
once ! " This familiar call Is heard
throughout the many track meets to
get the running events going. Trackettes
for the past two years have done
a terrific job officiating the home
track meets. Stop watches click on at
the sight of the gun smoke and stop
as a runner breaks the winning string.
The field event show trackettes heaving
the pole up for a 12'3" jump at
the pole vault, tugging tapes for the
discus event, raking the pit for long
jump, and running around looking for
the guys who haven't taken their turn.
Trackettes get the opportunity to have
a little authority over the men for
once, to take on responsibility, and
to have fun. In order to distinguish
the track guys from the trackettes,
yellow patches with a green foot in
the center were made as the symbol
of the trackette club. This year
Becky Clark, Sandy Bond, and Nancee
Hill were chosen as co-captains this
year.
