Congratulations to “iconannual 2014”
It is a pleasure to congratulate Dr. Gerhard Hrebicek
and his team on the tenth anniversary of the European
Business and Investment Forum – iconvienna, for
their commendable efforts in organizing this event
during the last decade and creating a successful business
platform for countries from different regions of the world.
The Embassy of the Dominican Republic has actively
participated in iconvienna since 2008, and has found in
this initiative a highly interesting partner for promoting
business opportunities in the Dominican market and
identifying potential commercial partnerships with
Austrian and European markets.
Our participation in iconvienna goes in line with the
efforts undertaken by the Government of the Dominican
Republic and its President Danilo Medina to promote
Dominican exports and foreign investment with partners
around the globe.
The Dominican Republic, apart from being one of the
favourite tourist destinations in Europe, is also a country
that offers unique business and investment opportunities
for European partners. Incentives for free zones, tourism
investment and agricultural projects, as well as the
creation of a National Bank for Export Development,
an agency intended to allow Dominican producers to
access loans at preferential rates, are only but few of the
initiatives being implemented to consolidate the country’s
competitiveness and its excellent climate for investment.
By offering network opportunities, a medium to present
some of our high quality products, such as rum, tobacco,
coffee and cacao, and an ideal platform to promote our
beaches and investment climate in tourism, iconvienna
has thus provided a unique forum for us to disseminate
information about the country, engage with new
partners from different regions of the world and achieve
useful business contacts for Dominican producers and
investment sectors.
As Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to Austria,
Bulgaria and Serbia, and in the spirit of iconvienna,
“make contacts to contracts”, it is my hope to continue
collaborating in the future with partners in Austria and
Europe to keep on developing the great potential of
the Dominican Republic as an important business and
investment partner in the Caribbean region.
Once again, our congratulations to the iconvienna team
for its achievements and our best wishes of success for
the upcoming 10 th edition of this valuable business and
investment platform and its future projects.
