A third <strong>of</strong> respondents in ROI (31.3%) and 39.9% in NI were on some form <strong>of</strong> prescribed medication,<br />

rising in graduated manner to 77.9% <strong>of</strong> those 65 years and older in ROI. In NI the rise was even steeper,<br />

applying to 82.1% <strong>of</strong> those over 45 years old.<br />

Difficulties reading instructions in ROI were reported in just under half <strong>of</strong> cases, with women (43.8%)<br />

having less difficulty than men (51.7%). In NI difficulties were higher overall (62.6%), and again men<br />

(69.6%) had more <strong>of</strong> a problem than women (57.0%).<br />
