A third of respondents (n=698), who had ever been pregnant, had ever lost a baby (30.9% in ROI and
29.5% in NI) and this was strongly age-related in ROI, rising from 15.8% in those under 30 to over 4 out
of 10 of the older women who reported such a loss.

stage of pregnancy, including deaths in the post partum period. Most commonly, this had occurred
once only.
