All Ireland Traveller Health Study Specifically considering cardiovascular risk factors, the excess burden of cardiovascular morbidity noted is also reflected in an excess of cardiovascular risk factors seen in the Traveller group, as compared with the SLAN 2002 medical card holders. For those Travellers who had their blood pressure and/or cholesterol checked in the last year, the number with a high level detected was overall higher than the number within SLAN 2002 and 2007 who reported having a high reading checked (Table 255). However, with respect to the unscreened Traveller population, clearly the true prevalence of these conditions is not known.
