Wheat Germ Lectin Sepharopore-MB
Affinity Chromatography
Wheat Germ Lectin (agglutinin) binds specifically to cells, subcellular particles, glycoconjugates and polysaccharides containing
N-acetylglucosamine residues. In WGA- 6MB, the lectin is covalently coupled to Sepharopore 6MB. This affinity
adsorbent is useful for the general fractionation of glycoconjugates, but the large bead size also facilitates the specific
binding of cells with practically no physical entrapment of the cells. WGA Sepharopore 6MB is supplied in 0.9% NaCl
containing 0.04% sodium azide as a preservative.
• Binding Specificity: Depends on the composition
and structure of the glycoconjugate or
polysaccharide
• Ligand coupling method: CNBr activation
• Ligand Concentration: 5mg Wheat germ lectin/
ml drained gel
• Matrix: Agarose, 6% Macrobeads
• Exclusion limit (Mr): 40 megadaltons
• Bead size range: 250µm-400µm diameter
• Ligand source: Triticum vulgaris
• pH stability: 4–9
• Storage: 4-7°C (Do not freeze)
