Looking to get an edge on her job responsibilities, Cristina Via
researched different accounting programs and decided to go with
LaGuardia's College Certificate Program in Accounting. "My goal
was to learn in detail the accounting fundamentals that I was doing
at my job by practice," says the construction company office

In order to qualify for this program, you must have a bachelor’s or associate’s degree, or be exempt from the CUNY ACT tests. Experience in accounting may qualify as an exemption.
You will also be required to attend a 30 minute advisement session before beginning the program. Principles of Accounting I is the first course in this series. The other 3 courses may

Learn the basics of accounting: recording and summarizing
transactions; adjusting and closing procedures; and
preparing financial statements and reports. You'll also
explore valuation and payroll accounting, and much more.

Take an in depth look at partnerships and corporations,
with a focus on stock transactions, long term liabilities

statement analysis as well as other related topics will
also be covered.

Accounting Applications
Get hands on microcomputer experience in the
processing of accounting data, working with spreadsheets
(Excel), databases (Access), and dedicated

management decisions, and strategic controls

Individual Income Tax Procedures
Learn the basic concepts of individual income taxation
and the mechanics of federal individual income tax
